Term 3, Week 6
Room 4 Newsletter: Term 3, Week 6
Sunday 28th August, 2016.
Thank you to all those who attended and participated in School Mass this morning. It was a lovely celebration, and there was a great atmosphere afterwards for the shared morning tea, despite the chilly morning.
Important dates coming up:
*ICT this week
with Mrs Flannery – Monday morning and Tuesday afternoon.
*Wednesday 7th- Friday 9th September: Year 3 & 4 Camp to Dunedin. Dunedin
Holiday Park overnight Wednesday, Ōtākou Marae overnight Thursday.
*School Photos:
Monday 12th September - the
Monday straight after camp. Order forms will come home in homework clear
files tomorrow (Monday) and need to be returned to Alyssa in the office as soon as
possible.
*Sunday 18th September – 9 am Mass: Sacrament of
Confirmation.
Camp:
Wow… time
is certainly flying by, we will be away on camp in no time!
*Mrs
Beilby, Mrs Waldron and I met with the parents travelling to camp on Thursday
evening and finalised areas of responsibility.
*In class
we have discussed "food choices" so we can buy exactly what we need
for our lunches and not have any waste.
*We have
been working hard on the oral component of Te Reo. This includes introducing
ourselves with a mihimihi, and also our kapa haka, which is looking and
sounding really polished. We have added a poi dance to this.
*Remember
that the list of what to bring to camp is on an earlier blog entry, and also
came home in hard copy two weeks ago. I have spare copies if anyone needs
another.
Little Acts of Kindness Day Thursday 1st September:
Mrs Sanders
has designed a paper we can fill in for others in our school who show acts of
kindness. These nominations need to be people who are not already in our
friendship group. Nomination forms are in the classroom and Mrs Sanders will
collect these on Wednesday. On Thursday 30 people will receive a cupcake
from Sticks and Stones.
Polyfest - Dunedin Wednesday 14th September.
Mr Yeoman is
arranging transport for those who indicated that they are attending. We
are the last school to perform in the afternoon session on Wednesday.
School
Musical:
We are under way with our musical songs.
As well as the whole school chorus songs, Room 3 and 4 have a number of songs
and items of their own. I will print song sheets for homework clear files so we
can begin to put in time on this at home as well.
Mrs Beilby will have a little audition for the girls’
song this week. The song is sung while the ballet is danced, so some people
will need to choose whether they want to dance in this or sing. All of the
girls will get to dance in "Fly Little Dove". Boys will get to
learn a Jamaican dance… watch this space!
Have a great week. Markelle
