Holy Week Liturgy and Camp Photos

Tomorrow at 9.00am the whole school are participating in a liturgy for Holy Week.  Room 4 are role playing the scene of Jesus and his disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane and some of the girls are doing a liturgical dance. All parents are welcome to come along.

Last week, we sent home the Scripture Challenge for Eisteddfod.  Each child will be presenting next week ( 4th-6th of April).

The Year 4's and I have really enjoyed listening to the Year 5's tell us all about their camp from last week.  Mrs Chamberlain has sent me some pictures and it looks like heaps of fun!
A big thank you must go to Mrs Lyon and Mrs Chamberlain on organising such a wonderful camp plus thank you to all the parents who helped on camp.

Week 8, Term 1

The week of Year 5 camp has finally arrived! Please make sure your child has everything ready to go for Wednesday.

Scripture Eisteddfod
This Term the focus is Scripture.  I will be giving each child information about this tomorrow.  Please support your child with this at home.

Basic Facts
On a Monday, I test the children for Basic Facts on the level that they are on.  If they get most/all of them correct they move onto the next level.  If they didn't quite finish or a lot were incorrect they continue learning the basic facts at that level.  Tomorrow the children will get out their basic facts folder and we will highlight the level that they are on to make it a bit clearer.

It is wonderful to see so many parents supporting their children learn their basic facts.  I have seen flash cards made and have seen children using Sumdog at home which can also boost their basic facts knowledge and speed.

We will not be going to the library tomorrow as we are walking down to the Town Hall for a performance called "You've Got the Power".

Week 7, Term 1

Hi everyone,

The Year 5 camp is fast approaching, just a friendly reminder to make sure all bikes are sorted and ready to go!  The previous post to this had a Packing List for camp.

On Thursday, the Playhouse Theatre are visiting school and Omakau school are joining us to watch the show.

Well done to everyone who participated in the School Triathlon!  Everyone was so supportive of each other and it was lovely seeing so many parents supporting the event.

We are starting the Jesus Strand in Religious Education this week.  This is from the Family, Whanau Book on the Jesus Strand in the Year 5 programme.

Week 6 - Term 1

How quickly this Term is going already?! Welcome back to Week 6!

  • Monday afternoon - Room 4 will be going to Alexandra Public Library
  • Tuesday 12.00, we have our School Triathlon.
On Friday, I went to a Restorative Practice (RP) course in Cromwell.  It was great to learn about the reasoning behind why RP is an important and valuable system to have in our school.  If any parents are wanting to know more about RP, there is a Parents Evening on Monday (5th March) at Cromwell College Auditorium 7pm-8pm.  This isn't just an approach that is isolated to school but could be very useful at home.

Have a great week!

Week 10, Term 2

Wow, we are at the end of the Term! I have loved teaching the children in Room 4 for the last two terms and I look forward to my last week...
