Parish Family Mass this
Saturday night:
Father Pat has asked if I
could arrange a few students to present a liturgical dance at the Family Mass
on Saturday evening. We will be preparing this dance in Room 4 (or perhaps at
lunchtime) during this week. I have asked the children to make sure that if
they would like to participate, they must check with parents first. I will
confirm this later in the week with the parents concerned.
Writing:
After last term’s
excellent narrative writing and publishing, Room 4 children have continued
their commitment with a project on Information Report Writing. The four topics
are Cambodia, World Religions, The Sun, and Dinosaurs. We have been working on
establishing the criteria, planning, research, layout out in paragraphs, and of
course the writing. The children are developing their self-management skills,
some are doing slide shows or posters, and most are really engaging in their
topic. I look forward to when these are ready to present to the class.
Te Reo:
In the lead-up to camp we
have been learning all about the Marae, and what we can expect with the powhiri
(welcoming ceremony). Soon we will begin
practising our mihimihi. We have also been looking at the different parts of
the wharenui (meeting house), and the children have done a sketch. I will
endeavour to have these up for display by the end of the week.
Olympics:
Every student will take a
turn at presenting a news item about the Olympics over the next week or so.
Please support them to choose an appropriate story/picture to share from
current newspapers.
Have a great week.
Markelle J
