Term 2, Week 1

Sunday 30th April, 2017

Welcome back for Term 2. I trust you are refreshed and ready for a new term of fun and learning.

Important dates coming up:
·Monday 1st May: Monday Whole School Prayer, 9 am in the Church. Please join us.
·Swimming: Tuesday 2nd May & Thursday 4th May. Come prepared with all your gear. On Tuesday we will leave for the pool at 12.15 pm, and on Thursday we will leave for the pool at 1.15 pm.

Homework Routines for Term 2:
This term the children will continue to bring home their Homework clearfiles on a Monday. Homework will include a Maths sheet, a Reading Comprehension task, and where appropriate an R.E. or Writing task. Please ensure that your child’s homework time is straightforward, and that it fits in with your family’s needs. Write a note in their clearfile at any time is there is an issue with homework.

Health & Wellbeing:
Following on from our Circle Time and Restorative Practice learning last term, I will be continuing to focus on the Health & Wellbeing of all students in Room 4. This term we will be looking closely at ‘What our feelings look and sound like’, and ‘Strategies for coping with our feelings’. Alongside Circle Time we will be developing Circle Skills including being a good friend, using our voice, being aware of how our words and actions affect others, and building resilience. I invite your input or questions at any time. Various discussion topics may also come home with your child in their homework clearfiles or they may come up in general conversation with you at home.

Technology Update:
We have now completed 3 out of 4 of our Garden structures, which have been given pride of place in the School Garden. Thank you Mr Cooney for your continued support to get these finished. We now have the job of building up Room 4’s garden plot by digging it over, placing a wooden surround in, and adding compost to the soil. Fun!!!!

Regards, Markelle Ward J
