Oral Language Opportunity:
This week we will begin preparation for individual oral language presentations in Room 4. These will take place each Friday morning, according to the roster below. While there will be time given in class to support this task, some aspects of it need to be done at home, for example finding an appropriate news report in a newspaper, or practising a poem, report or song.
We will rotate the tasks once everyone has completed the first round of presentations.
The purpose is to build confidence when presenting or speaking in front of the class. Each presentation will be followed with an opportunity for others to ask questions and give feedback.

Find an age-appropriate news article from the newspaper (local papers are perfect).                      Explain what the article is about and why you chose it.
Show the picture if there is one.
Share what you have learned from the report.
Be prepared to answer questions about your article.

Poem:
Choose a poem that is relevant to a topic we have been doing in class.
Introduce the poem by stating the title and author, and explain why you chose this poem. Read it with a clear voice and good expression.
Be prepared to get some feedback on your presentation.

Book Report:
Give an oral report on a book you have read recently.
Tell us who the main characters were and what the story was about.
Was there a problem and how did it get resolved?
Give the book a mark out of 5 and explain your reasons.
What was your favourite part in the story? Show a picture from the story. Make sure you tell us the title and author. Be prepared to answer questions.

Talent Time:
Present a song, dance, gymnastics display …. Anything that showcases a special talent                you have!
Introduce it first and tell us why you chose to do this.
Be prepared for feedback and to answer questions about your presentation.

Puppet show:
Work with your partner to prepare a short role-play, to be presented  in the form of                        a puppet show.
We have some puppets already, but you may want to make some stick-puppets to fit your theme.
Ask Mrs Ward for some time in class to plan this.

Have a great week.

Regards, Markelle Ward J
