Room 4 Newsletter: Term 2, Week 7
Monday 1st June, 2015
Welcome to Week 7. Thank you to all those who were able to
join us for Room 4’s assembly on Friday afternoon, the children were delighted
to have an audience to dance for!
I trust you’ve all had an enjoyable Queen’s Birthday weekend.
Upcoming dates:
*Wednesday
3rd June – Rippa Rugby Tournament.
*Thursday
4th June – SWIMMING – Session 6, 10.10 – 11.15 am.
*10th-12th
June – Catholic Convention, Wellington.
Publishing of Writing:
Later this week your child will bring home
their narrative writing for publishing. Publishing is important for many
reasons. It allows the children to re-visit their writing to proofread, add
things, change things, and to share their stories with a wider audience, not to
mention learning valuable keyboarding skills. Please support your child to type
up their story and email it in to me for marking and display. It is a good
opportunity to ‘cut it down’ if it is too long, or ‘add to it’ if it is too
short. They will also bring home (later this week) a Criteria Checklist for
Narrative Writing so they can check their own progress. The deadline for
publishing is Friday 19th June. Please advise if you do not have
access to a personal computer.
Sacramental Programme:
Reconciliation children will have a liturgy
session this weekend at the 9 am Sunday Mass. It would be great to have all
their booklets there, let me know if you do not have one yet.
Snow Farm
I have pencilled in dates for the Year 3/4
Snow Farm Camp. Exciting! This will be Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd of September. I am
currently investigating costs and will advise of all information as it is to
hand. This is an overnight camp, and it will include all of Room 4, plus the
Year 3 students in Room 3, as well as teachers and the required number of
accompanying adults. There will be a meeting later in the term to discuss
matters arising.
Knitting
We had our first craft session on Thursday
afternoon with Deirdre Jolly, Mary Blyth and Margaret Berg. This was a week or
two later than planned, but we are underway now. The children will no doubt
have stories about their experience of knitting, some went better than others.
We will continue with this for a few more sessions … good things take time. J
Have a good week and keep warm.
Regards, Markelle Ward
