Term 2, Week 8

Room 4 Newsletter:  Term 2, Week 8

Sunday 7th June, 2015

Welcome to Week 8.
I am away from Tuesday afternoon till Friday evening this week to the Catholic Schools Convention in Wellington. Room 4 will continue a fun and varied programme with their reliever who will be looking forward to working with them I’m sure. Please keep the notes and messages coming in to class as needed.

Upcoming dates:
*10th-12th June – Catholic Convention, Wellington.
*Thursday 11th June – SWIMMING – Session 7, 10.10 – 11.15 am.
*Sacrament of Reconciliation – please check this Wednesday’s school newsletter for details of the dates for Reconciliation, and for the Parent meeting prior to that.

Homework:
Homework for the next TWO WEEKS is for the children to publish their narrative stories and to prepare for their Poetry Eisteddfod:
(1)            Publish Story
A copy of your child’s draft story will come home in their homework clear file. Please support them to publish as much of their story as possible, and email it in to be by June 19th. I have included in their homework a Narrative Writing Criteria Page for them to check off as they go. Email markelleward@stgerards.school.nz
(2)           Poetry Eisteddfod:
We are reading lots of poems and verse in class at the moment to get us ready for Poetry Eisteddfod. Please also use some homework time to support your child’s choice of poem, and follow the Poetry Eisteddfod Criteria Page  for guidelines. The term is going by fast so it is a good idea to get this organised now.
There will not be a Homework Calendar during these two weeks but there will be extra maths, reading and spelling sheets available for those who have indicated they want them.

Sacramental Programme:
Liturgy sessions for Reconciliation children will continue at this Sunday’s 9 am Mass J .

Ride back from Dunedin?
If anyone is coming back from Dunedin this Sunday 14th June and has a spare seat in their car, please let me know as soon as possible. We need to get Nadine back for her 21st birthday cake by about mid-afternoon, and the bus appears to be booked out! Thanks J .

Reports
I am making my way through the Year 4 reports which are now being forwarded on to Mrs Eastwood for Principals comments and signature. You should receive these reports by the last week of term.  Parent-teacher interviews are being set up for Week 2 of Term 3.

Have a great week.
Regards, Markelle Ward   J
