Central

"It is essential that
all those students who put their name down for the Central Otago Triathlon this
Thursday 23rd March bring their forms back to Mr Yeoman or Mrs Beilby on
Tuesday March 21st.
Thanks."
Connected Curriculum:
On Friday in Room 3 &
4 we had plenty of examples of how Connected Curriculum is working in our
school. As part of Room 4’s study of parables in R.E. we had baked bread on
Thursday to demonstrate how yeast is like the Kingdom of God – a little bit of
yeast permeates the whole loaf and it grows bigger and bigger. God’s love grows
in us in the same way, and a little bit of faith grows and grows so we can do
great things. We served the bread as part of our shared lunch for St. Patrick’s
Day, when everyone wore green clothes, and brought a plate of green (or other)
food to share. We also used fresh garden produce (mostly green) from the School
Garden, the Wards garden, and Mrs Beilby’s garden. We made 3 big hot-pots of
cooked vegetables. This directly linked to the following WALT’s:
1. Health: We are learning to use fresh garden produce
to make our own hot-pot.
2.R.E: We are learning to exercise our duty to care for creation
through small daily actions and changes in lifestyle.
It was lots of fun, with
Mrs Beilby’s Saint Patrick’s Day Treasure Hunt creating plenty of suspense and
competition to finish.
Have a great week. Markelle Ward J
