Term 2, Week 5

Monday 2nd June, 2014

I trust you have all had a nice weekend. Thank you to all those who were able to make the ‘Becoming a Restorative School’ meeting on Wednesday night. It was great to have so much buy-in from the whole school community. J

Important Dates:
*Tuesday 3rd June, 9.30 – 10.30 am: Kahurangi Performance – whole school. Swimming starts – 12 noon till 1 pm.
*Friday 13th June - New Zealand Playhouse - "Rap-unzel" Performance 1.30 pm.
*Ice Skating, 24th June till 2nd July.

Making new stuff from old stuff:
I thought that this Thursday afternoon we could start making the maracas from the plastic fizzy bottles that we have collected. Thank you to all those that have sent the bottles along. If anyone can join us, and help with using the sharp Stanley knives (which you could bring if you have one) to cut the plastic – that would be greatly appreciated. Afternoon class begins at 1.30 pm. These are for the song that we will be learning as part of Ben Whitaker’s overseas project.

Camp:
Now that I have made the initial enquiries and worked out most of the prospective costs for our 3-day camp, it is time to call a parent meeting to discuss the main ideas. It is worth waiting an extra week or two now until Chris Beilby is back, since she is joining us on camp with her Year 3’s. So I propose that we meet on Wednesday evening, 18th June, about 7pm in Room 4. Let me know if that’s going to work? I will send an information sheet home a week before the meeting so you have a chance to think it through first.

Mihimihi

For their mihimihi, could the children please find out which ‘mountain’ they would like to refer to – generally this is related to the place of their birth. This will help me ensure that the information they are giving in their mihimihi is accurate. Thanks. J
